The Hoyt House Murder Mystery Weekend was awesome. We had guests play there parts to the hilt. Elvis was in a full head to toe costume and Jimmy Hendrix was very cool with a plastic blow up guitar. There was laughing and screaming in the dining room and all had a great time. The stuffed Rock Cornish Hens were perfect with Asparagus & Hollandaise and Rice Pilaf. The crab bisque was to die for. If you didn’t catch this one, join us next time on January 27th-28th 2012 for what will be our 4th Annual Murder Mystery Dinner. Twenty guests arrive but only nineteen leave.
9/11 A Day To Remember
September 11th, 2011 by Deborah Gold
10 years ago today my life changed and America will never be the same. We lost over 12 residence in my hometown of
Ridgewood, New Jersey and Bergen County lost 100′s of men & women that day. It is almost unreal, watching the towers get hit. I clearly remember screaming as the first tower fell from the sky almost in slow motion. I must have watched the towers come down over 200 times that day. Not believing it really happened. So many lives changed that day it is hard to know someone who wasn’t effected that day. I ran to school to pick up my son, and held David so tight he could barely breathe.
I could not watch the services today or the speeches from people who lost loved ones and the towers slamming into the foundations that once supported the massive structures. People jumping, screaming, dying, surviving Countless firefighters, EMS, Police, running, saving, helping and covering bodies. It will never fade in my mind. I did not loose anyone close to me that day. But many people did and I can not fathom their pain. The nightmares must be countless and seemingly endless. My heart goes out to all that have lost loved ones, friends and family. Knowing that America will never be the land of the free as it once was is now a fact that will forever be with us. Peace
Amelia Island Turtle Watch
July 28th, 2011 by Deborah Gold
Amelia Island Turtle Watch
is in full swing on the island. Four digs this week and visitors on the island are encouraged to help get those littleloggerhead turtles safely into the water. It truly is amazing how the process starts of the mother pulling her way up the beach to nest. Struggling to get to the beach and using almost all her strength to dig and lay her eggs. She leaves never to see the outcome of her hard work or her children taking their first swim. David & I had a blast. It is hands on and we got to hold the babies and release them into the water. One of the many things happening on Amelia Island. Nest Watch over 142 Nest for 2011 and 2,224 hatch-lings. Truly Amazing. It is a must see and should be on your Bucket List.

Come as guests, leave as family
June 22nd, 2011 by Deborah Gold
It is sometimes very hard to say good-bye to folks you only met several days before. David & Carol-Ann came into our lives as guests, but today left as family. We enjoyed them as much as they enjoyed us and the Hoyt House. Late nights sitting at the bar, discussing all sorts of things. David a deep sea diver, pilot, camera man, yachtsmen, an expert on tectonic plates formation, helped with the BP oil spill, and a black belt. He was just well amazing with a British accent to boot. His wife Carol-Ann warm, funny full of life and and adventure, looking for another career but just can’t put her finger on it. Her & I talked about well everything.
As innkeeper’s we come in and out of peoples lives celebrating moments of joy and happiness. We have a wonderful job. Love it. Thank you to all the folks that have come through our doors and allowed us to be apart of their memories.
