Ebola Coming to America

October 30th, 2014 by Deborah Gold

mThe Hoyt House Bed & Breakfast Inn is taking extra precautions to protect our guests from potential illnesses.  As the Innkeeper and Registered Nurse, I am a big fan of staying healthy and keeping folks safe. The flu season is about to begin which kills thousands of people each year.  With the recent development of Ebola Coming to America, we have decided to implement some new policies at the Hoyt House.  Daily sanitizing of all doorknobs inside and outside each room & all public excess areas. Hand Sanitizer is available in the public areas and public bathroom.  Each room will now have Lysol Spray and Hand Sanitizer in each room.

A few other tips to keep you healthy:

1-When going to the grocery store, take two wipes that are available at the store. One to wipe the bar on the cart, and then use the second one to wipe your hands before you get into your car. 2-When dining out, use your personal pen to sign the check. 3-Push open doors with your shoulder or elbow.  4-When hand washing make sure after washing your hands you do not touch the handles to turn off the water. Dry your hands first, then use the towel to turn off the water, keeping your hands clean and not re-contaminating your hands.  5- Remember in PUBLIC AREAS where ever you touch, thousands of people have also touched. 6-So escalators you a shirt cuff or elbow, public railings, public bathroom doors & knobs, the bank pen & counters, the ATM machine use a pen or pencil when able. 7-The doctors office, don a pair of disposable gloves. Note: that the flu is communicable within 6 feet from a person coughing or sneezing who has the flu.  Keep tissues on hand and get your FLU shot! Remember to keep hand sanitizer in your car and don’t bring the bugs home with you!

Have a healthy holiday season and we hope to see you at The Hoyt House Bed & Breakfast Inn located on beautiful Amelia Island.
