Most of the island and including the National Historic District is decorated in Holiday spirit. Take a carriage ride through the area and see some amazing 19th century mansions dressed in its glory. Dining on the island could not be better with some incredible chefs working overtime to make this holiday so very special. The Ritz Carlton had a huge private ship made out of gingerbread. A must see if you come the the Island. Sit on our porch swing and enjoy some warm apple cider and Egg Nog at The Hoyt House. Happy Holidays and a Healthy New Year to All!

10 years ago today my life changed and America will never be the same. We lost over 12 residence in my hometown of Ridgewood, New Jersey and Bergen County lost 100′s of men & women that day. It is almost unreal, watching the towers get hit. I clearly remember screaming as the first tower fell from the sky almost in slow motion. I must have watched the towers come down over 200 times that day. Not believing it really happened. So many lives changed that day it is hard to know someone who wasn’t effected that day. I ran to school to pick up my son, and held David so tight he could barely breathe.

I could not watch the services today or the speeches from people who lost loved ones and the towers slamming into the foundations that once supported the massive structures. People jumping, screaming, dying, surviving Countless firefighters, EMS, Police, running, saving, helping and covering bodies. It will never fade in my mind. I did not loose anyone close to me that day. But many people did and I can not fathom their pain. The nightmares must be countless and seemingly endless. My heart goes out to all that have lost loved ones, friends and family. Knowing that America will never be the land of the free as it once was is now a fact that will forever be with us. Peace

Four digs this week and visitors on the island are encouraged to help get those littleloggerhead turtles safely into the water. It truly is amazing how the process starts of the mother pulling her way up the beach to nest. Struggling to get to the beach and using almost all her strength to dig and lay her eggs. She leaves never to see the outcome of her hard work or her children taking their first swim. David & I had a blast. It is hands on and we got to hold the babies and release them into the water. One of the many things happening on Amelia Island. Nest Watch over 142 Nest for 2011 and 2,224 hatch-lings. Truly Amazing. It is a must see and should be on your Bucket List.
