Amelia Island Turtle Watch is in full swing on the island. Four digs this week and visitors on the island are encouraged to help get those littleloggerhead turtles safely into the water. It truly is amazing how the process starts of the mother pulling her way up the beach to nest. Struggling to get to the beach and using almost all her strength to dig and lay her eggs. She leaves never to see the outcome of her hard work or her children taking their first swim. David & I had a blast. It is hands on and we got to hold the babies and release them into the water. One of the many things happening on Amelia Island. Nest Watch over 142 Nest for 2011 and 2,224 hatch-lings. Truly Amazing. It is a must see and should be on your Bucket List.
